Although
there are a lot of different tasks, the
essence of our work is simple: Everyone
is Holy Company, every place is Holy Ground,
and every act is Sacred Practice.
Practically
speaking, that means licking a stamp, cleaning,
washing dishes, arranging and organizing
the storage room, making sandwiches, and
packing harm reduction kits, are as genuinely
important as passing , out sandwiches and
talking to people. Really. There is a subtle
power that enhances the effectiveness of
all our work if we stay focused, with simple
mindfulness and sincerity in every task.
We invite you to experience this process
for yourself by working as we do, focused
on the work at hand. Don't gossip and chat
with others who are volunteering but concentrate
on the work at hand in silence when there
are no kids present or concentrate on the
kids when they are present. Be totally present,
leave your other world behind. Offer a quick
blessing of lovingkindness as you make sandwiches
to each person who will eat them. These
sandwiches will feed real people and provide
nourishment. When packing harm reduction
kits do the same remembering that you are
saving lives of the one's who will receive
them. Offer the same silent blessing to
people as they enter for they are Christ
in our midst.

discusses plans for the upcoming street
services
in Hemlock Alley with Thom an intern
serving Temenos. |
Whatever
your duties here, please do them impeccably,
and with respect. Please be punctual and
reliable, for when you are !ate you are
stealing other people's time and the work
suffers.
This
whole place is about "Life as a Sacred
Practice". We invite you to discover
the same joy, peace, and magic from this
Yoga as we have. Please keep lines of communication
between us wide open if you have any difficulty
understanding or practicing this point of
view. Our effectiveness rises or falls on
the integrity and humility of each of us.
