as i walked the streets there is such desperation. i feel pressured by the aids walk, but i see l who is out of prison high as a kit, d whose liver is failing, leaving his drug program, and the list goes on. the police have been out, just harrassing people. i heard them say to several "get over here u piece of shit." no sense of treating people as human beings.
i feel like i am under pressure for the aids walk because of our grant, and i feel so out of place with those white breads, i am looking forward to going to the east coast in two weeks. counting the days.
at 3:30 a.m. streets still hopping with the "girls" and their pimps, screaming, yelling. the streets busy with cruisers. police seem to go in after bars close and so they all just go crazy.
spent several hours with 19 year old ad, who just found out he waas hiv positive. he is in a no man's land, struggling with trying to stop using drugs, and with trying to get some kind of stability in his life.
there are times i feel weighed down with pain i see around me, and with the world in general. we have a billionaire running for president with his 70 million vice presidential candidate. we have a president born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a vp who is wealthy from halburton. all running to help the "common man". we have a mayor who panders to the weathy and sees the homeless as a thorn in his side. and so it goes. and all i can rest in is the promise of the resurrection. Jesus said to his Apostles:
"Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.
But beware of men,
for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.
Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel
before the Son of Man comes."
"Do not worry about how u are to speak." people asked me what my plans aree for five years, and i jokingly say i have none, we want to plan, and plan, and in the process fail to live in the moment. jesus tells us to trust that God will provide in the moment.
m, 19 is here talking, eating, complaining his "shots" are not getting him high, and lonely.
s, 19 cried and cried for me to give him money because he is sick.
the streets are wild tonight, just wild, and people are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
for me, i have a sense of depression, tiredness, and can only take the moments by moment and see them as moments in grace. Deo Gratis! Thanks be to God!

A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him
and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, "If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured."
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,
"Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you."
And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official's house
and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, "Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping."
And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand,
and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.
people often think that when one has faith it leads one to being apart from life, other worldly. when in realty Jesus sends us to embrace life for faith allows us to live life to its fullest, knowing that all is in the hands of God and that we are in God's hands.
for me it is in faith that i continue to minister through these years even when the nay sayers told me i could not keep doing this ministry for various reasons--no money, burn out. it is faith that lets me move day by day into circumstances that are very depressing. saw farenthheighth 11 last night, very depressing, but faith allows me to embrace the hope that God is with us, and will bring us to new life.
